How to Accessorize Western Outfits This Summer

A Guide to Styling Crop Tanks, Graphic Tees & All the Good Details

If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that western fashion is more than just boots and denim—it’s a way of showing up. Your outfit tells a story before you ever say a word. And when it comes to summer, it’s all about finding the right mix of comfort, style, and that bold western flair.

The truth is, even the simplest tank or tee can turn heads when you pair it with the right accessories. So whether you’re headed to a rodeo, country concert, or just doing everyday life, here’s how I style some of our favorite pieces this season.

Start with the Base: Summer Staples I’m Loving

Cropped Western Tanks

You can’t go wrong with a good crop in the summer heat. These tanks are flowy, breathable, and packed with personality. Some of my top picks:

  • Bridled Beauty – That soft stone blue is everything

  • Show Horse – Bold and eye-catching with a little sass

  • Ol’ Paint – A classic feel that pairs with just about anything

Wear them with denim cutoffs, a big belt buckle, and your favorite boots.

Graphic Tees That Speak For Themselves

If you know me, you know I love a good tee.
Here are a few you’ll catch me wearing on repeat:

  • Cody Roper – This one’s a must-have staple. It’s clean, classic, and goes with everything.

  • Cody Freedom – Perfect for the patriotic cowgirl look, especially around the 4th

  • The Good Horse – This one just feels special. It’s a reminder of strength, grace, and doing life the cowboy way

Tie them up, tuck them in, or wear them oversized with biker shorts—so many ways to style them.

Fringe, Embroidery & Layers

I love tossing on a fringe jacket or embroidered vest, even in summer.
Lightweight pieces like the Desert Buckaroo Jacket or Rank Paint Vest add instant texture without the bulk. They’re great for cooler nights or just leveling up a simple outfit.

Accessorizing Like a Pro (Without Overdoing It)

Accessories make the outfit—but I always say less is more if you want it to feel natural. Here are some easy go-to pieces:

Hats

Lately, I’ve been reaching for western-style trucker hats more than anything. They’re breathable, easy to wear, and give any outfit that cool, lived-in feel. I love ones with mesh backs, vintage patches, or rope detailing across the front. Perfect for bad hair days, hot summer outings, or just adding that western punch to your favorite tee and denim combo.

Belts & Buckles

Big buckles, concho belts, and tooled leather are my jam. They pull everything together whether you’re wearing a tee and jeans or a prairie dress.

Cowgirl Boots

From ankle to knee-high, boots are where it’s at. I love ones with stitching, fringe, or a pop of color. And yes—they're still comfy in summer if you get the right pair.

Jewelry

I’m big on turquoise, silver, and anything layered. Just enough to add a little sparkle without feeling overdone. My rule? If the boots or belt are loud, keep the jewelry simple.

Outfit Ideas by Occasion

For Rodeos & Country Events:

Cody Freedom or Good Horse tee, fringe bag, big belt buckle, and layered jewelry.

Everyday Casual:

Crop tank, denim shorts, straw hat, and some simple earrings or a leather bracelet.

Date Night or Concert:

A black felt hat, embroidered boots, and one bold statement piece (like a chunky turquoise cuff).

Things I’ve Learned Along the Way

  • You don’t need to wear everything at once. Pick 1–2 pieces to stand out.

  • Don’t mix too many textures or loud prints—it can get messy fast.

  • Make sure your hat fits (nobody likes chasing it in the wind).

  • Let your boots ground the look. No sneakers with western wear—it just doesn’t hit the same.

  • Always dress for the occasion. Big fringe and bold jewelry are fun—but maybe save that for a rodeo, not your grocery run.

Final Thoughts

Western style is supposed to feel personal. It’s about confidence, comfort, and showing off a little attitude. Whether you’re throwing on the Cody Roper for the third time this week (guilty) or dressing up a tank with a statement belt, the goal is always the same: make it yours.
